Season’s Greetings, My Dear Colleagues,

As 2024 draws to a close and my term as President of the Philippine Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (PSUOG) concludes, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and reflection. It has been an incredible privilege to lead this remarkable Society, alongside passionate professionals dedicated to advancing the field of ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology.

This year has been a testament to the power of collaboration and shared purpose. Together, we have made significant strides in education, service, and innovation. From enhancing research in our accredited training institutions to organizing continuing medical education programs, workshops, and community service through PSUOG caravans, these accomplishments are a collective triumph of our commitment to excellence.

Announcement

As the Ultrasound Fellowship Training Program (UFTP) transitioned from a one- year program to a two-year curriculum, with additional competencies in Advanced Obstetrics and Gynecology procedures including interventional ultrasound procedures, the PSUOG 2024 Board of Trustees deemed it prudent to give time to evaluate the two-year- program through the first batch of graduates who will be taking the Certifying Board Examinations this year and the next batch on the following year. In line with this, the Board decided with the Board Resolution 2024-2, to temporarily issue a two (2) year moratorium from 2024-2026 and refrain within this period from accepting new applications for the UFTP. This is primarily to provide ample time to assess the performance of the existing training institutions during the transition. Depending on the evaluation, the future Board of Trustees will decide if it will be ready to accept new applications. Furthermore, we have established new guidelines for the new application which will be implemented after the moratorium. Rest assured that we will provide you with the necessary guidelines and requirements to prepare your facility as well as your roster of faculty. The 2024 Board of Trustees in response to the call for action of the Department of Health regarding the concerning issue on Mpox has developed a safety protocol for Mpox in ultrasound practice. May this guideline be helpful for you to protect you and other healthcare providers and your patients from this emerging disease in our country.
